Tom's Guide has tested more than half a dozen mobile controllers, and rated the ELO Vagabond the first one that holds like a full-size console pad. Reviewer Anthony Spadafora had spent that run looking for a phone controller with the easy comfort of Sony's remote-play handheld, and concluded this is the one that reaches it, without asking him to give up the pro features he had come to rely on.
His account credits the shape first: long swept handles instead of a slim clamp across the phone, which is what settles the cramped hands that flatter grips tend to cause over a long session. After that it is the hardware. Microswitch face buttons click rather than squash, the magnetic thumbsticks are chosen to resist drift, a capture button sits beside ABXY, and two rear buttons can be remapped to the inputs a player uses most, each with a switch to turn it off outright. He counted six pairs of stick inserts in the box, double what he usually receives, and came away treating the pad as the one he would reach for on the move.
