Universal Virtual Touch

Android only

Play touch-only games with your game controller. Universal Virtual Touch turns your controller’s buttons and sticks into taps on the screen.

What you’ll need

  • A controller

On Bluetooth or plugged in over USB. Either is fine.

  • Android 11 or newer

No computer needed — the whole setup happens on the phone.

  • About five minutes

Once. After that your phone remembers the pairing.

One-time setup

  1. Turn on Wireless debugging

    1. Settings → About phone → tap Build number seven times.
    2. Settings → System → Developer options (on some phones it is under Advanced).
    3. Turn on Wireless debugging, and keep Wi-Fi on — pairing uses it.

  2. Activate the helper

In Unleashed: Settings → Universal Virtual Touch → under Setup, tap Activate helper.

Turn on auto-fill first and you never have to type a code. Tap Enable next to “Auto-fill the code (recommended)”.

Switch it on in the Accessibility screen that opens, then come back.

The Installed apps list with “Unleashed pairing auto-fill” circled in red and showing as On

    Now pair. Tap Start pairing.

The Unleashed Activate Helper screen with an “Open Wireless debugging” link, a “Can’t find Wireless debugging?” expander, and a large purple START PAIRING button

On the Wireless debugging screen, tap “Pair device with pairing code”.

The code fills itself in: Pairing… → Connecting… → Connected.

Not using auto-fill? Type the six digits into the notification that appears.

  3. Allow drawing over apps

Under Setup, tap Grant next to “Allow drawing over apps”. This is what lets the controls sit on top of your game.

  4. Connect your controller

Pair it over Bluetooth or plug it in. It appears under “Connect a controller”.

Get your controller dialled in

  1. Calibrate — about 20 seconds

    Manage → Calibrate controller:

    1. Roll both sticks in full circles.
    2. Pull both triggers all the way down — each ticks green as it is captured.
    3. Let go of everything, then tap Save.

Stop the overlay first — it and calibration cannot both use the controller.

  2. Button style

Manage → Button style. Auto follows your controller; pick a style by hand only if the symbols look wrong.

Build your layout

  1. Make a preset

A preset is your button layout for one game.

    1. Manage → Manage presets → New preset.
    2. Press a button on your controller — it pops onto the screen.
    3. Roll a stick in a circle — a virtual joystick appears.
    4. Drag each control onto the game’s own on-screen button.
    5. Resize from the corner handle, remove with the cross.
    6. Tap Save.

Play

  1. Start the overlay

    1. Tap Start overlay.
    2. Switch to your game and play.
  2. The floating handle

Tap the handle on screen for:

    • Load preset — switch layouts without leaving the game
    • Edit layout — move controls on top of the game
    • Test — check your inputs without touching the game
    • Show/hide controls — hide the outlines, your controller still works
    • Stop overlay

Troubleshooting

Good to know

  • Your presets and calibration are saved — calibration per controller — and after a phone restart you only tap Reconnect, never the pairing code again.
  • Manage → Diagnostics shows your controller’s name, connection type and response rate, which is handy when reporting a problem.
